I spoke with Sue Olson (Center for Persons with Disabilities) and Janet Wahlquist (DDE Center for Early Learning) and director of the Art Museum at the university about the role of music composition and how it finds its way into a rigorous, arts infused curriculum. A very productive meeting with the Fine Arts Coordinator of the school district opened up possibilities for professional development for their school district exploring the contribution music composition makes in a well-developed and creative music curriculum.
I am looking forward to working with these outstanding and enthusiastic educators and leaders in their field. So many possibilities opened up!
I am heading back there first week of October to present Teaching Music Composition in the 21st Century Classroom to their educators.
